Frequently asked questions

Everything travellers usually ask before a trip to Egypt. Can't find your answer? We're a message away.

When is the best time to visit Egypt?

October to April is the most comfortable window for sightseeing and Nile cruises. December to February is peak season, while the shoulder months (October–November and March–April) offer warm weather with fewer crowds. Summer is hot inland but excellent for Red Sea diving.

Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Most nationalities need a tourist visa. Many travellers can obtain a visa on arrival (typically USD 30, single entry, paid in cash at the airport bank counter) or apply for an e-visa in advance. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Requirements vary by nationality, our team confirms the right route for you when planning your trip.

How many days do I need in Egypt?

A classic Cairo-and-Nile trip works well over 7–8 days. Add the Red Sea, Abu Simbel or Alexandria and 10–12 days lets you travel at a relaxed pace. Every Tourkom itinerary is a flexible starting point we tailor to your dates.

Is Egypt safe for tourists?

The main tourism regions, Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, the Nile valley and the Red Sea resorts, are well set up for visitors, with established security around major sites. We plan routes and logistics around current guidance and always recommend checking your government's latest travel advice before you go.

What should I wear and pack?

Light, breathable clothing for the day, a layer for cool desert evenings, sun protection and comfortable walking shoes. Modest dress (covering shoulders and knees) is appreciated at mosques and religious sites, and a scarf is handy for women.

Is the Grand Egyptian Museum open?

Yes. The Grand Egyptian Museum is fully open beside the Giza Pyramids and is now the headline cultural draw of any Egypt journey. It was recognised among TIME's 2026 World's Greatest Places.

Can you arrange a Nile cruise?

Absolutely, from classic cruise ships to intimate private dahabiya sailing boats between Luxor and Aswan. It is one of our most-requested experiences and features in several of our sample programs.

Do you handle MICE and group events in Egypt?

Yes. Egypt is a signature MICE destination for us, from Cairo conferences to gala dinners and incentives set against the pyramids. Tell us your group size and goals and we'll build a proposal.
